About this Pattern
The first time I made this cowl for my daughter, Sanne, she was three and forever losing her scarves or pulling them off because they were “itchy”. I wanted something for her that would be cozy, feel soft and most importantly - stay on! This cowl has ticked all those boxes and she has happily worn one for the past two winters.

Skills Needed
You need to be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl and knit in the round. I have a detailed explanation of how to make a bobble in the pattern. I think this pattern is great for all knitters - whether you’re a beginner who wants to try something that’s mostly simple with an interesting new technique or if you’re an experienced knitter wanting to whip up a quick gift for someone.

Sizing
There are three sizes: Small (Medium, Large).

Small
is designed to fit a large baby or toddler. Height: 3.6” / Circumference: 15”. Yarn required: 30g.

Medium
is designed to fit an older child 4-7 years. Height: 4.75” / Circumference: 16.7”. Yarn required: 42g.

Large
is designed to fit a tween/ young teen. Height: 5.5” / Circumference: 18.5”. Yarn required: 52g.

Adult (Cast on 96 stitches). Height: 7” / Circumference: 20” / Yarn required: 68g.

Gauge
22 stitches and 30 rows = 4” in stockinette.
IMPORTANT: I am a very tight knitter, so if you just knit this without checking gauge, you are likely to get a larger finished object than me and require more yarn! My advice is to knit a quick gauge swatch to ensure the correct fit.

Yarn
10ply/Worsted Weight
I used Alegria Grande by Manos Del Uruguay (75% Merino Superwash, 25% Polyamide). Colours: Foil (grey); Turmeric (mustard/yellow); and Petal (pink).

Needles
5mm (US Size 8) 16” Circulars. I used the small, 4”-in-length needles so that I could knit in the round comfortably. As mentioned above, I am a tight knitter, so you may need to use a smaller sized needle to achieve the same fit/gauge.
